The Flower Festival

Each year, during the Corpus Domini feast, large floral carpets are created along Via della Repubblica, while other compositions adorn the town’s historic districts: the Visinali (along Corso Appio Claudio, towards Rome), Largo Staurenghi, Piazza Sant’Angelo, and Piazzetta Luigina Sinapi.

Artists from all over Italy and abroad collaborate with young local talents, working each year to craft these magnificent carpets made of flower petals.

Numerous workgroups dedicate themselves well in advance to preparing the flowers used to create these extraordinary works of art. This is a deeply felt and widely participated event within the Itri community, open to tourists and visitors alike.

During the event, there are tastings of typical local products, guided tours of Itri’s monuments and archaeological sites, and a blessing of the floral carpet by religious authorities. This is a festive and reflective occasion, blending tradition, art, and community.
